Reach New Audiences
Challenge: Non-profit organization wanted to reach new supporters, donors, attendees and volunteers for their 10th anniversary festival.
Best practices applied:
Create a friendly contest between two elected officials where people donate dollars towards which one would have a sturgeon fish named after them. The fish would then be released at the organization’s festival. This effectively promoted the organization, its 10 year anniversary event, its mission and fundraising.
Through fundraising and contact development more than 80% of the donors were first time financial, attendee and volunteer supporters of the organization.
Rebrand an Established Organization
Challenge: Create a new brand (message, image, identity) for a 100 year old organization that would be accepted by the community.
Best practices applied:
Developing an authentic and consistent voice to build trust, acknowledge the past and communicate to the current community
Evolving a brand and working with small details to ensure it it represents the organization positively and future-forward
Build your audience by going to them directly and acknowledging their need to understand the vision
Working with a Client to Deliver Value
Challenge: Within a confined template, fulfill the needs of multiple audiences and stakeholders.
Best practices applied:
Listen to the client - you are a team
Think long term as well as short term; what are the potential benefits of the plan and its outcomes
Think about who you want to reach before you start working on production
Creating a stronger community and organization by sharing resources
Challenge: Create a program that mutually benefits private and public organizations without drastically adding new action requirements.
Best practices applied:
Do your research and develop the plan - the plan can evolve and change, but have the materials and the goal developed in advance
Look at all perspectives of the project - how will it be received, do SWOT analysis
Keep going despite setbacks - maybe the right people are not at the table, maybe something else is missing; look for ways to freshen the approach and try again, be patient
